My Summer Workplace

Council's My Summer Workplace opportunities for 2017 will be advertised later this year.

The My Summer Workplace program runs for three months starting late November and ending late February 2018. The program is open to university students and recent graduates.

The program

My Summer Workplace provides university students and graduates with an opportunity to gain experience and apply their knowledge and skills in the workplace. They will also build industry networks.

Previous opportunities in the My Summer Workplace program relate to some of the following areas of study:

  • Human Resources  
  • Event Management 
  • Marketing 
  • Business 
  • Communication 
  • Town Planning 
  • Information Technology 
  • International Business / Marketing  
  • Mechanical, Electrical or Property Economics 
  • Urban and Regional Planning 
  • Sport and Event Management.

Placement duration

My Summer Workplace runs from late November until late February 2018. This includes a two week break over the Christmas/New Year period.

Payment

My Summer Workplace placements are paid. Students will receive a regular payment to help with the costs of transport, food and housing.

Eligibility

To be eligible for My Summer Workplace, applicants must: 

  • be enrolled in a tertiary course
  • have completed 16 or more subjects
    or
  • have graduated within the last 12 months.
