Bli Bli’s story seat
A new ‘story seat’ was installed at Muller Park in January as part of a region wide project by council's libraries. It’s part of the First 5 Forever early childhood literacy program, which focuses on the importance developing early literacy skills in children under 5. As an avid reader myself I believe this program is so important to encourage our young readers and ensure they are off to a good start with literacy when they start school. I am thrilled that Muller Park has been selected as one of the ten parks region wide to display the story seat.
Bli Bli Community Association
It was great to attend the first Bli Bli Community Association meeting for 2018. After a busy and successful 2017 the group has a number of new ideas to help foster a stronger community and help locals connect with each other. It was great to see the new member for the seat of Ninderry, Dan Purdie attend the meeting and make himself available for questions on state government related matters including the widening of the Bli Bli bridge and improved public transport for the area. I am looking forward to working closely with Dan over the next few years.
Solar farm savings
The Sunshine Coast Solar Farm is surpassing its targets in its first year, offsetting more than 100% of Sunshine Coast Council’s total electricity consumption and providing almost $1 million in savings. These results confirm council’s view that this project will create savings – and an awareness of renewable energy across our region and beyond. I encourage all residents with an interest in renewable energy to keep an eye on council’s website for the latest solar farm data.
