Sunshine Coast Business Awards
I recently launched the 2017 Sunshine Coast Business Awards, which provide a fantastic opportunity to promote your business and what makes it special. Sunshine Coast Council has taken on a leading role as a platinum sponsor for these awards the last seven years. I encourage all local businesses to consider entering. It is a unique opportunity to showcase your business nationally and internationally.
Have your say
Council’s Draft Environment and Liveability Strategy is now open for public comment. This strategy is an important read for everyone interested in the future of the Sunshine Coast. It will guide council in preserving and enhancing our natural environment while enabling a good quality of life for all residents in an accessible and well-connected built environment. You can provide feedback on council’s website before June 4.
Public art for Bli Bli
As part of the Sunshine Coast’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, local artists are adding some colour to several traffic boxes across the region. A traffic box on David Low Way, near the River Markets, was recently painted by local artist EJ Zyla. EJ is a freelance artist with a passion for public art and I’m sure you’ll agree she has done a great job with this colourful addition to Bli Bli.
A major event
A four day international road cycling event is coming to the Sunshine Coast on 13-16 July. Council held a number of information sessions recently to discuss changed traffic conditions with the community, including one at the Coolum Surf Life Saving Club. These details of changed traffic conditions will also be on council’s website before the event.
