Skaters, BMXers and scooter riders are invited to provide feedback on two draft concept plan options for an upgrade to the popular Alexandra Headland skate park.
The draft concept plan options have been developed by Sunshine Coast Council following community engagement earlier this year when the community provided initial ideas for the upgrade.
You can have your say on the concepts by attending one of two workshops on Saturday, August 6 or by completing an online survey from August 8-19*.
Visit council's community engagement page for more information.
Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said council was seeking input into the new design for the skate park before construction begins in 2017.
“We have worked with specialist skate park designers to take the initial feedback and turn it into two exciting concept designs for the upgraded park,” Cr Connolly said.
“Both concepts offer a modern and innovative facility with elements that suit skaters, and BMX and scooter riders.
“It was very clear from the consultation that the people who use the skate park want to see a bowl incorporated into the upgrade.
“Bowls have been included in both concepts but there are different options for the bowl sizes and for the other park elements, so it is important users take a look at both designs and tell council which elements of the concept designs they like.
“The upgrade project will also include additional seating, shade and other infrastructure such as lighting.”
Council will incorporate feedback on the draft concept plan into the final design. The final design may be a combination of the two concepts if feedback shows elements of both designs are favoured.
Both concept designs:
- provide shade and shelter to increase the time the skate park is used
- include features to suit all user skill levels, and allow users to progress and develop their skill
- integrate the skate park with the nearby infrastructure and iconic beachfront location.
