The Nambour Central Park Open Space Master Plan[1498KB] aims to guide development along Petrie Creek and includes the Nambour District Skate Park and Youth Activity Precinct (YAP). The first and second stages are now complete.

Project scope

The redevelopment and extension to Quota Park:

  • encourage increased use of the park
  • improve the look and feel
  • provides the community with a new skate park, war memorial and youth activity elements.

The precinct benefits Nambour and the hinterland region.

Project update

The third stage of Nambour Youth Activity Precinct was opened for use by the public in September 2016.

Key features in this stage include youth activity elements, giant bird's nest swing, shade trees, lighting, pathways, featured landscaping and extra seating.

Where to from here

The park facilities are now being used by the public.

The concept plans for this project were developed in 2013:

This new work will increase the open space in Quota Park by 1800m2. It also significantly improves the sporting and leisure facilities of the area.

The skate park is the only district level, urban street style skate plaza and multi-use precinct on the Sunshine Coast.

In 2010 council approved the Sunshine Coast Skate and BMX Plan 2011-2020. This plan was based on audits and assessments of existing facilities. Priorities were to:

  • upgrade the Nambour skate facility
  • investigate more suitable and safer site locations.

Council evaluated 12 potential sites across Nambour. Only two options met the criteria for a district level facility. Council selected Quota Park at the corner of Ann and Mathew streets in early January 2013.
