These critical upgrades are essential to improve road safety, connectivity and to cater for the future growth of Maroochydore as the key centre for business and commerce on the Sunshine Coast.

Construction on the Maud Street intersections has commenced and is scheduled to be completed by April 2017 (weather permitting).

Soon after completion of the Maud Street works, construction will commence on the Aerodrome Road upgrade. These upgrades are funded through council's Capital Works Program and are due to be completed in mid-2018.

Project scope

The project involves upgrading the Maud Street intersections at Bungama Street, Allambie Street and Dalby Street, and installing signalised intersections at Bungama and Dalby Streets.

Aerodrome Road works involve upgrading the intersections at Cornmeal Parade, First Avenue and Maud Street and street realignment.

The upgrades will improve road safety in the area and provide an efficient link from Maud Street and Aerodrome Road to Maroochydore’s new city centre.

Additionally, these upgrades will accommodate for future growth of the region.

Project update

Maud Street (including Bungama, Allambie and Dalby Street Intersection Upgrades)

Shadforths Civil Contractors have been engaged by council to undertake the construction work along Maud Street.

Construction commenced late last year, and is expected to be completed by April 2017 (weather permitting).

Originally scheduled to be completed mid-year, the early construction completion date will be achieved by undertaking a combination of day and night work.

The project team is making every effort to minimise impacts on the community, however nearby residents and businesses may experience some noise as well as changes to traffic conditions associated with these works. Council apologises for any inconvenience and would like to thank the local community for their patience during the works.

Changes to pedestrian and cycle pathways will occur regularly during the construction period and signage will be in place to direct pedestrians and cyclists accordingly.

Temporary lane closures and reduced speed limits will also be enforced. Some intersections will be temporarily closed (at night) with detours in place.

Electronic message signs will display details of these closures and detour signage will be in place to direct motorists and pedestrians.

Traffic controllers will also be on hand to direct traffic.
