Landsborough Historical Museum

The Landsborough Historical Museum is a local history museum displaying the heritage of Landsborough and the surrounding area. The facility has a research area and book shop. A meeting room is also available and group tours can be undertaken by appointment.

Queensland Air Museum

The Queensland Air Museum's (QAM) collection contains 50+ historic aircraft plus several full size representations and replicas, 20+ large scale models, 90+ aircraft engines, airfield equipment and displays honouring people, aircraft, organisations and activities that helped shape Queensland as we know it today.

Nambour & District Historical Museum

The Nambour & District Historical Museum has a large collection of items including locomotives from the closed Moreton Sugar Mill. Part of the Museum is the original Nambour School Headmaster’s residence built in 1908. Displays include scouting schools, hospital tools, telecommunications, wartime, home life and fashion.

Buderim War Memorial Community Association

Pioneer Cottage is an original historical house built around 1880. Now a museum, it remains a living piece of the local history. Filled with historical furniture, homewares, period decor, photographs, clothing and fascinating curios from our past.

Kenilworth and District Historical Association

The Kenilworth and District Historical Museum provides examples of "Living History", with an operational plug and cord telephone switchboard, working antique machines as well as fine examples of the lifestyles of the early settlers of the district. Collections include historical photographs, antique farming, industrial and household equipment.

Discover Eumundi – Heritage and Visitor Centre

The Discover Eumundi Heritage and Visitor Centre has displays of Eumundi’s early settlers, industries and contemporary history, including the famous Eumundi Markets. These displays include natural history and a collection of Indigenous artefacts from the region. Historic Walks of the town are available to groups by appointment on (07) 5442 8762.

Fairview was built in 1907 entirely from white beech, grown and pit sawn on the property for John Robert and Emily Pattemore by their sons; Bill, Stan, Ernest and Albert Pattemore. JR Pattemore operated his Maleny property as a dairy farm on the share farming principle and lived there until he died in 1947, aged 97. 

Fairview still stands on its original site and was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register in 2003. Conserving the cultural and heritage significance of Fairview provides a great opportunity to impart dignity, social relevance and a sense of time & place into an area which is undergoing extensive and rapid change.

Nambour Library - Heritage Library

Sunshine Coast Libraries provide access to collections of materials relating to the history, heritage and development of their local area including books, photographs, magazines, videos, DVDs, and oral histories. The Heritage Library provides answers about Sunshine Coast people, places, parks and road names, house histories, school talks, tours and more.

Specialist research assistance is available at the Heritage Library located on the first floor of Nambour Library. Smaller collections, relevant to specific areas, can be accessed at Beerwah, Caloundra, Coolum, Kawana, Kenilworth, Maleny and Maroochydore libraries.

Bankfoot House

Built in 1868 as an accommodation stop on the Brisbane to Gympie goldfields route, Bankfoot House is the oldest surviving house in Glass House Mountains. Furnished with original items from the home, Bankfoot House provides a unique glimpse into early life in the Hinterland.

Maleny Historical Society

Priscilla Cottage is the original home of the Bryce Family of Maleny. It houses local heritage collections from the Bryce family and other items that reflect Maleny life and industry. It also includes an outdoor cookhouse and shed stocked with old tools and curios.

Yandina Historic House

A lovely example of a hinterland Homestead built in 1899, the Yandina Historic House was relocated to its current site in 1996. It houses a collection of local historic photographs and some heritage items, but mostly functions as an information centre, an art gallery for local arts and crafts and Devonshire Teas.

Bli Bli on Maroochy Historical Society Inc.

Bli Bli on Maroochy Historical Society Inc. aims to collect and preserve the local history of Bli Bli and its surrounds including the Maroochy River. The organisation has a special interest in collecting oral history by doing taped interviews with long time residents. It also collects published and unpublished historical material relating to the area and maintains a small intrepretive display at the Maroochy Wetlands.

Old Caloundra Lighthouse

The old lighthouse guided shipping into Moreton Bay from 1896 to 1967. Guided tours provide an opportunity to climb to the lantern and learn more about this Caloundra icon and the part it played in the history of the town. Its corrugated iron and timber construction is unique to Queensland. The Friends committee still meets on a regular basis and their objective includes promoting heritage conservation within the wider community.

Spirit of Cobb & Co Australian Teamsters Hall of Fame and Glass House Mountains Camping Grounds

Owned by Stephen Ralph, this complex near historic Bankfoot House is a tribute to the Cobb and Co tradition. An original 1860 Cobb & Co changing station, it also functioned as a post office and trading post and it retains original memorabilia such as postal facilities, furnishings and a pianola.

Peachester Hall Trustees and History Committee

Peachester History Committee meets on the first Sunday of every month (except January) at the Peachester Hall at 11.00 am. Anyone interested in local or general history is welcome. Bring lunch to share. Program of guest speakers, activities and excursions during the year.

Caloundra Family History Research Inc.

The Caloundra Family History Research Inc. objective is to encourage and assist members in their research of genealogy and family history. There is a library of research aids, and experienced members of the centre are available to provide help to new researchers. The centre also maintains an active interest in local history.

Family History Centre

The Family History Centre provides a Family History Library that is open to the public free of charge. There are many records for searching family history on both computer and micro fiche. Charges only apply for requests of original Parish Register films from various overseas countries.
