What’s stopping you from riding a bike? Perhaps it’s a lack of confidence or inexperience. Whatever your age or skill level, sign up for a free workshop now to get back on your bike and make the most of the Sunshine Coast’s many great cycling routes!

This workshop aims to build confidence and improve safety for females aged 18 years and over who haven’t ridden in a while and need a refresher. This course is run by accredited instructors and covers bicycle handling and technique including gearing, cornering, road rules and etiquette. Riding will be conducted in a set environment and will include riding around obstacles. The course includes 15 minutes of theory.

Want to learn some handy bike maintenance tips? Join Lee Berrill from TravelSmart to learn how to fix a flat tyre, keep key parts clean, lubricate and perform basic maintenance.

  • Keep your bike safe for riding.
  • Hands-on activities and information about local pathways and on-road cycling networks across the Sunshine Coast.
  • Start enjoying some fresh air and exercise with the most fun and sustainable form of transport around.

Intermediate

This course is designed for children already riding on two wheels. It will teach bike handling skills and road awareness to help them to ride safely in low traffic environments and on pathways. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults are also encouraged to participate, however this is not compulsory. 

Please note: This workshop will start at the same time as Progression from Training Wheels with dedicated instructors for each.

Age is no barrier for the fitness and freedom cycling can bring. 

Council's Seniors Bike Rides are fun, free and a great way to get back on your bike during Sunshine Coast Bike Week. Has it been a while since you've been on a bike? Would you love to feel the breeze on your face as you ride along the Sunshine Coast's shared pathways? This ride is a great way to regain your confidence, show you the best places to ride and refresh your pathway safety and cycling etiquette. You could even meet some new friends and keep riding together. Complimentary coffee offered at the end.
