A new on-street parking management strategy around the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct and Birtinya will soon be introduced, to benefit local businesses and residents.
This is part of council’s larger, precinct-wide strategy to ensure the right people park in the right places, and so do safely.

Please see the detailed map[2786KB] for a clear overview of the parking management strategy.

On-street parking options

The on-street parking options around the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct will include two-hour paid metered parking, between 8am–5pm, seven days per week. At all other times there will be a maximum of two-hour parking in this area. This is in addition to the privately run, multi-level car parks.

Please note the extent of the parking managed by Council in the health precinct is around 2.5% of the total supply.

A close watch on residential parking

Council will keep a close watch on the residential areas of Birtinya Island and Birtinya Peninsula to monitor whether spill-over parking from the health precinct is becoming an issue.

If spill-over problems arise, Council may recommend one-hour parking regulations in these areas during the following times:
  • 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
  • 8am – Noon, Saturday
  • not applicable on Sunday.
Residential parking permits will be available to allow residents to park on the street for unlimited periods (permits not required if residents wish to park on their own property).

The permits will be identified by the registration number of a vehicle registered to a resident at that address. Obtaining a parking permit will incur an administrative fee of $48 per annum. However, this does not necessarily guarantee a park on the street will be available at all times. Each household will be advised of any changes before they happen.
