Beerwah Charity Sports Carnival
Thanks to all the troopers who braved the rain and came out to support a much curtailed program last Saturday.  Despite the downpours the day brought out the spirit of our great country communities and those who came along enjoyed a great display of produce, community stalls and local strong men and women.  It was also a perfect excuse to buy twice as many home made cakes and egg and bacon rolls as usual to help out the community stall holders - all in all a great day, only let it be a bit dryer next year!
Hinterland grant winners
The environment, community and cultural grants winners have been announced and I am proud to say the following groups in the Glasshouse and surrounding areas have been successful:
Wildlife Warriors $50,000, Twinnies seabird rescue $10,000, Glasshouse Mountains Advancement Network $2650
Glenview Mooloolah Tennis Club $2000, Peachester Reserve for Recreation $4500, Glasshouse Mountains Sports Club $3500, Suncoast Hinterland BMX Club $4000, Glasshouse Mountains Neighbourhood Centre $7500, Landsborough Area Community Association $7500 and the Hinterland Community Development Association $7500,
Landsborough and District Historical Society $7000, Friends of Bankfoot House $1420
Congratulations to all the groups who applied for the grants.
Local AGMs
I was pleased to attend two important local community group annual general meetings (AGM's) and on behalf of the community thank the outgoing executive of the Glasshouse Country Chamber of Commerce and Glasshouse Mountains Advancement Network (GMAN) for their hard work and congratulate both of the new management committees. Both reported on an extremely busy past year and both signalled equally busy years ahead.  These groups help create the very fabric of our communities and a special thank you to those new faces willing to assist on management committees perhaps for the first time.
Your pet, your responsibility
Council is now taking a harder stance against aggressive and dangerous dogs, and will ensure that owners of these animals are held responsible for their dog’s unacceptable behaviour. If you experience or witness dogs acting aggressively or need further information contact council on 5475 7272.
