Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2018

Forty established and emerging artists have been revealed as finalists in the prestigious Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2018.  Thirty of the finalists have not previously exhibited in the Art Prize, which demonstrates the growing visibility and reach of the prize.  325 entries were received, including 5 local artists and 14 artists from regional locations.  Before the exhibition opens on August 16, the 40 finalist artworks can be viewed online by visiting the gallery website https://gallery.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/

Interest in Arts?

The very first Sunshine Coast Arts Plan is now available for your review, helping to develop a 20-year arts plan for the region.  While the plan will support and grow our arts sector, a key outcome will be to increase opportunities for the community to experience and engage with the arts.  Review the draft arts plan and have your say (by July 12) by visiting council’s website  https://haveyoursay.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/draft-sunshine-coast-arts-planThe final plan is expected to be presented to council in August 2018.

Bike Lane upgrade

Keep an eye out for an upgrade at the Pierce Ave / Caloundra Rd intersection to accommodate bike lanes. The extent of works will see green bicycle lanes extended on either side of the intersection to raise awareness of cyclists for turning vehicles.
