Cr Baberowski - Cooler and greener in Landsborough
  • Wednesday 25 February 2015

Landsborough residents have told me that they are pleased with the trees recently added around north Landsborough as part of Council’s street ‘forest’ project. The wetter weather has certainly helped them get well established while also providing the relatively new strand of Poinciana trees in Caloundra Street a great spurt of new growth.

Construction at Bankfoot House

I recently popped into the new building under construction at Bankfoot House. Despite the wet weather, the heritage levy-funded new interpretive building at Bankfoot House is progressing well and looks impressive.  Construction of the building is pretty much complete with just some internal fit out and driveway work remaining before the final landscaping works commence. The official opening is planned for June 3, when we can all celebrate a great council—community partnership that is creating a much improved heritage destination for our region.

Glasshouse District Park Planning Project underway

A project brief to commission a landscape architect to develop a concept design and development plan for the new Glasshouse District Park off Gardner and Page Streets will go out this week.  The landscape concept report will include a site analysis, layout, pedestrian circulation, shade shelters, furniture and playground locations etc.  It will also include sufficient information to inform preliminary costings and the results of a community consultation session to be held on site sometime in April. As this is one not to be missed, I will ensure that information is distributed to local residents closer to the time.
