Cultural Heritage Calendar Competition
The Sunshine Coast is renowned for its love of leisure, sport and recreation and residents who have captured this passion on film are encouraged to submit their photos for publication in next year’s Sunshine Coast heritage calendar. Entries for the Playtime themed 2018 Heritage Calendar are now open today and council is inviting the community to dig out old pre-1980 photo albums in search of their favourite photos depicting our region at play. Visit council’s website and search ‘Heritage Calendar 2018 Competition’ for details on prizes, eligibility and how to submit.
Sending a big official welcome to Division 1 to the Baringa community! A recent decision to approve the creation of the suburb of Baringa and alter the locality boundaries of Bells Creek within the regional council of the Sunshine Coast has been finalised. This change will affect property address information allocated by council and you should be advised accordingly. For more information about boundary changes or to view the plan online, visit the Department of Natural Resources and Mines website www.dnrm.qld.gov.au.

Out of over 400 submissions, 40 finalists have been revealed in the Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2017. The 40 finalists are being showcased in the exhibition at Caloundra Regional Gallery from August 17 to October 8.
CoastAlert notification service
When severe weather is approaching, flood waters are starting to rise or there’s another type of disaster on the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Council aims to provide important alerts to the community as quickly as possible. The CoastAlert notification service is linked to information on council’s award-winning Disaster Hub website, and is a new feature of council’s SCCApp. To receive the alerts, simply download the SCCApp from the AppStore or Google Play.
Love to Ride
Love to Ride Sunshine Coast is a fun, free competition to encourage you and your work colleagues to experience firsthand the joys and benefits of riding a bike. Sunshine Coast businesses will compete against each other to see who can win some excellent prizes while getting the most staff to ride a bike from September 1 - 30. Now is the time to register your furry friends. Cat and dog owners will start receiving their annual animal registration renewal notices this week. Renewal is due by September 30. This is also a good time to update your pet’s details if they have changed.
