Horizon Festival 2018 program unveiled

This is a very exciting time for the Sunshine Coast with the Horizon Festival about to kickoff. Council recently unveiled an impressive 2018 program catering to the popular, emerging and experimental genres. There’s so much variety in the program this year - you can dip your toes in, or really immerse yourself and step outside your comfort zone. There are free and ticketed events across the region, visit the website www.horizonfestival.com.au to view the full program and plan your days across the 10 day festival.  You can also pick up a printed copy of the 51 page brochure at council’s customer contact centres and libraries.  Give my office a call on 5420 8987 as we’re also happy to post you a copy!

Baringa is building

The emerging locality of Baringa is developing at a great rate with the new sports clubhouse now open and ready for local clubs to use for training and competitions.  The clubhouse will service the new adjacent sport fields and provide the local school and community access to sporting facilities. In addition, the construction of the community centre is on track and should be completed by the end of 2018.

I recently attended the official opening of Baringa State Primary School by the Queensland Premier.  It really is a credit to the entire staff, parents and students of the school to showcase such a vibrant and next generation level of learning since their first day of school only 6 months ago!
