Council recently opened the extension of Burke Street to motorists, providing better connectivity to the communities of Golden Beach and Pelican Waters. The extension of Burke Street to Pelican Waters Boulevard gives the area a new east-west connection and will redistribute traffic from Caloundra Road, east of Nicklin Way to Pelican Waters Boulevard. This project is a key council project and is part of a bigger solution where council and the State Government are planning to improve traffic flow and access to the Caloundra and Golden Beach areas. Council will keep the community informed as new projects unfold for the region.
2019 Heritage Calendar
The Heritage Calendar is produced to celebrate and showcase the unique cultural heritage of our region. This year, photos have been drawn from the private collections of six locals who were winners of the heritage calendar photo competition. As we move towards Christmas and you may have a loved one in the ‘hard to buy for’ category, why not consider including in the Architecture: Past and present 2019 cultural heritage calendar. The calendar is a showcase of both old and contemporary architecturally diverse, well-designed and historic buildings across the Sunshine Coast (my easy favourite is May – The Rustic Cabin in 1939). It is proudly supported by your council’s Cultural Heritage Levy. You can purchase a copy from council’s library branches and Customer Service Centres for only $6.
