Cr Baberowski - KAFRA meeting outcomes
  • Thursday 14 May 2015

I was pleased to attend the recent KAFRA meeting at the Kawana Forest Meeting Place where a range of issues were discussed, including:

  • Possible impacts of the proposed Palmview development
  • Retirement village construction and future operation
  • Traffic and parking issues
  • Improvements to drainage in general

As Council’s best eyes and ears in helping to identify concerns and issues of importance to you, I encourage joining your community organisation as an effective way to focus and monitor Council’s responses to your needs.

Help wage war on weeds

Runaway garden plants are one of the main sources of environmental weeds.

If you would like to learn more about the problems weeds are causing in our natural areas, come along to a local ‘weed swap’ event on Saturday, May 16 from 9am-10am at Sharyn Bonney Bushland Reserve, Sugarbag Road, Little Mountain.

As a reward for your interest and concern, Council will swap one bag of weeds for three native plants for your garden.

Junior photo competition

Living Smart is encouraging our youth to get snapping in the great outdoors with the aim of sharing and raising awareness of the beauty and significance of our local environment.

Sunshine Coast under 18s are encouraged to enter the “Nature at Play” a junior photo competition.

Prizes for budding photographers include the chance to be a seal trainer for a day, a family yacht cruise and vouchers up to $350. Entries close at 5pm on July 24 and categories and criteria are available at
