Do you need help funding a conservation project?

If you are planning a conservation project on your land, now is the time to lodge an expression of interest in securing one of Sunshine Coast Council’s Landholder Environment Grants. The grants are available for projects that will protect and enhance our region’s natural assets and biodiversity. To be eligible for grant funding, projects must be completed on privately owned rural land within the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area. For more information, visit council’s website or contact a grants officer on 5420 8616 or via email at grants@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.

Know a new resident?

New to the Sunshine Coast in 2017? Need some helpful tips on council’s services? Grab a copy of our new residents pack from your nearest council office, or request one on council’s website, we’ll send it direct to your door. The pack will help you stay connected with council and highlights some of the great services and events we have available here on the Sunshine Coast, to make your new community feel like home sooner.

Be an early bird

Save money, take advantage of the 5% early bird discount by paying your Sunshine Coast Council rates before February 17. Property owners who pay by the early bird due date will save up to a maximum of $100 each six months.  There are a variety of easy payment options listed on your rates notice. You can also subscribe to receive future rates notices via email. For more information visit council’s website or call 5475 7542.

Art prize winner exhibition

The winner of council’s 2016 Sunshine Coast Art Prize, Michael Cook, now has an exhibit at Caloundra Regional Gallery. It’s on display until February 26 so take a look if you’re popping across to the coast.

Cheaper public transport fares

Although we’re not there yet on frequency and convenience of services, great news – Translink have introduced 3 new zones which should reduce their fares, so why not give public transport a go? In addition to the new zones and cheaper fares, seniors travel free after two journeys each day and children aged 5-14 travel free on weekends when using a child go card.

Safety selfie

Join in on the Seqwater safety campaign to be in for the chance of snapping up some great prizes, in an exciting contest that combines selfies and safety. Take a photo of yourself ‘playing it safe’ while enjoying an outdoor activity and upload the photos to the www.safey.com.au website for the chance to win weekly prizes.
