Local Artists Local Content Exhibition Opens
I recently had the pleasure of attending the official announcement of the winner of the Local Artists - Local Content Art Prize exhibition. The Friends, Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc. showcased the extraordinary artistic talent of the Sunshine Coast region, with forty finalists, selected from more than 100 entries on display. It is an important showcase for local talent and is an increasingly significant exhibition on the Sunshine Coast’s arts calendar. I encourage all residents to view the exhibition and vote for their favourite artwork, with the People’s Choice Award winner to be announced on Friday, October 28.
Happy Birthday to the ‘Friends, Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc.’
You may not be aware, but in early 1995, a group of passionate artists and community members gathered to form a committee to investigate the possibility of opening an art gallery in Caloundra. Now, in 2016, the Friends, Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc. are preparing to celebrate their 21st birthday. I would like to personally thank the inspiring group of volunteers who had the foresight and dedication to bring the gallery to life.
Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade Project
Public consultation has commenced on the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade Project. Building Queensland is finalising the development of a business case in partnership with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Community information sessions have been held at various locations to discuss the project, ask questions and provide feedback. Anyone with an interest in getting on a train to Brisbane through the Glasshouse townships should have their say. Feedback closes Monday 31 October 2016.
