RV limited facilities camping update
Great news! Council recently voted unanimously in support of the Limited Facilities Camping – Interim Policy. Council will now meet with the various management committees to gauge interest from potential providers of limited camping facilities.
The interim policy will guide the management of RV limited facilities camping during the next twelve months, allowing for development of a comprehensive regional Drive Tourism Plan. This interim policy will be reviewed at the end of this period to assess how well it is meeting both user and community needs.
I thank all stakeholders for your patience and look forward to working with you to help develop new and sustainable opportunities in this increasingly important drive tourism market.
Sunshine Coast Radio Control Car Club
I had the pleasure of visiting the Sunshine Coast Radio Control Car Club at Landsborough, which I believe is one of only two competition-sized racing car tracks in SE Queensland. The Club is seeking funding to resurface the track so they can continue to provide a quality experience for members and visitors. In the past, council assisted with the club’s driver’s stand, which provides excellent views of the track layout.
The club is conveniently located adjacent to the skate and sports precinct in Landsborough. This friendly club welcomes visitors to their fortnightly race meetings, so if you’ve never seen these scale model cars race then please consider going along. Visit their website at www.scrccc.com for details.
