Kawana Forest residents appreciate the value of nearby natural areas such as Racemosa (Scribbly Gum) Environmental Reserve, just outside Landsborough Town Centre. Purchased under the Environment Levy Land Acquisition program, council has now prepared a draft management plan for this nearly 300 acre reserve, detailing management actions required over the next 10 years. The draft plan is available to view online and at council administration centres. Provide your submission to: Sunshine Coast Council, Locked Bag 72, Sunshine Coast Mail Centre, QLD 4560 or by email email@example.com before 4pm on Friday, February 12, 2016.
Australia Day awards
Congratulations to all the nominees and recipients of this year’s Australia Day awards! While at the ceremony I caught up with three nominees from Division 1 - Judy Tomlinson from Celebrate Beerwah, Jennifer Broderick the musical director behind the Carols, Twilight Markets ANZAC events and Rosie Maynard from the Beerwah Pay It Forward group. Citizen of the Year award went to David Larkin for his work as Chaplain at Buderim Mountain State School. The efforts of the other award nominees and recipients ranged from environmental preservation and cultural enrichment to promoting disabled sport and road safety improvements, and we can all be proud of everyone involved in this year’s awards.
School Year Commencement Ceremony
It was a pleasure to attend the Pacific Lutheran College commencement ceremony which welcomed new staff and students. This year’s theme is 'Growing Deep', meaning having the courage to face the risk of the unknown.
