This week we celebrate the vital role our senior residents contribute to our communities. From high teas and entertainment to adventure on the high seas, be sure to join us as we honor and celebrate these special people.
Seniors Week activities
Kawana Library is offering a great range of activities during Seniors Week. Activities include eLibrary basics for seniors, Storytime with Grandparents, iBook launch of "Why Antarctica? A Ross Sea odyssey", and much more. Visit Council’s website or phone 5475 8989 for event details and bookings.
High Tea for seniors and their carers
Sunshine Coast Healthy Ageing Partnerships are hosting a high tea event at the Lake Kawana Community Centre on Wednesday, August 19, from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Entertainment from Linda Koenig, St Theresa's Catholic College, Norma Fox's Merriatrics and Dance Obsession is sure to get your feet tapping. Entry is $10, contact 5413 1400 to book tickets.
I extend my congratulations to the new Kawana Forest Residents Association executive committee led by incoming President Greg Chambers. KaFRA are great community representatives, raising issues with all levels of government as well as keeping a keen eye on development and maintenance standards. The group also collaborates well with Sunshine 60 & Better Association who manage the great local community centre and the mix of community activities on offer.
Out and About
I’ll be at the Kawana Forest Community Meeting Place on Friday, August 21 from 1pm to 3pm, where I look forward to catching up with residents to chat about the many things happening in our community.
