As Portfolio Councillor for the Arts, I was very proud to be part of the first meeting of the Sunshine Coast Arts Advisory Board on August 16. The first priority for the board is to develop a framework for the development of a strategic 20 year Regional Arts and Cultural Plan, including a vision for the region’s cultural future. By establishing this board we now have an opportunity to provide a strong foundation for creative growth that will benefit generations to come.
“First Coat Street Art”
Excitement is building for the first 10 day Horizon Sunshine Coast festival of arts and culture, kicking off on September 2, with HORIZON IGNITES in Caloundra from 5pm. Enjoy a free cultural experience featuring flamenco performance, projections, interactive art displays, laneway bar, food and market stalls. A must see is “First Coat” large-scale murals set to transform laneways in Caloundra’s CBD. The first project features the 14m long exterior wall of the Caloundra Regional Gallery. Jill Chamberlain Reserve, Little Mountain
I am happy to announce that the fencing works and pedestrian step overs in Jill Chamberlain Reserve are now complete. The works included the provision of approximately 225m of fencing and the installation of two new gates to stop unauthorised vehicle access into the reserve. This will mitigate damage caused within the reserve due to unauthorised vehicle access and is a great outcome for our local community.
