Alex Skate Park officially open
Skaters, BMX riders and scooter riders should get their wheels ready as the Alex Skate Park gears up for its official opening on Tuesday, October 10 from 3pm. The free family friendly event will include giveaways, skate workshops, pro demonstrations and an official ribbon cutting at 4pm. This project has been delivered ahead of schedule, allowing our skaters to start using the park sooner. The final design offers a modern and innovative skate park that includes many features the community asked for during consultation. This project was funded through council’s Capital Works Program which delivers a range of recreational projects for our community.

Meet and Greet
Join me for my next Meet and Greet at Kawana Library on Monday, September 25 from 9.30-11.30am. Please come along if you have any local government issues you would like to discuss. I will continue these sessions at Kawana Library on the last Monday of every second month.

Don’t miss these events

The fantastic weather has been great for events and tourism on the Sunshine Coast. Get involved in SC50 celebrations over coming months. To mention a few, we’ve got the Festival of Sands (October 1-2), the 2017 Sunshine Coast Open House (October 21), and the Sensational Sixties Cabaret Show (October 29). For more info and to find other events in your area, head to council’s website.

Pet registration
Now is the time to register your furry friends. By now, cat and dog owners should have received their annual animal registration renewal notices. Renewal is due by September 30. It is also a good time to make sure your pet’s details are up to date.
