Building Australia’s smart region
It’s an exciting time for division 4 as we witness the development of one of our region’s smartest game changing projects in SunCentral.
With almost $61 million allocated to division 4 for capital works in council’s 2016/17 budget, a wide range of infrastructure projects are poised to go ahead.
Just over $56 million has been allocated to SunCentral, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a new central business district on the Sunshine Coast.
More than $2.4 million will be spent on transport infrastructure, including $500,000 on streetscaping in Mooloolaba as part of the placemaking master plan, $190,000 on pathway upgrades in Mooloolaba and Alexandra Headland and $103,000 to upgrade Dalton Dr intersection in Maroochydore.
As we continue to promote healthier lifestyles, $1.2 million will be spent to continue future stages of the Minyama to Mooloolaba cycleway, Goonawarra Dr cycleway as well as pathway upgrades along Nicklin Way and Buderim Ave/Mooloolaba Esp intersection. Green cycleways will be continued along Point Cartwright Dr.
A further $853,000 is dedicated to ensuring our popular recreation parks are upgraded and maintained for the continued enjoyment of locals and visitors.
More than $250,000 will be invested in essential flood mitigation works in Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland and Buddina.
The 2016/17 council budget for division 4 is wide ranging and will help deliver some great projects.
