Delivering the future for Division 4
Council’s record $722 million budget for the 2017/18 financial year has allocated funds for several exciting projects in Division 4. Two major infrastructure projects, Plaza Parade, Maroochydore and Stage 5 of the Minyama to Mooloolaba Separated Bikeway, have received a combined $4.8 million funding. Both projects aim to increase accessibility as the Sunshine Coast continues to grow. The new Alex Skate Park, designed following community feedback, has received $750,000 funding. Division 4 parks have received a combined $800,000 funding for four of our most popular parks, and there are a number of other playground upgrades coming. I’m pleased work is continuing in Jessica Park, Minyama around the pond area, and the amenities block beside Kawana Surf Club will be finishing up in coming weeks. It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to the community.
SC50 Anniversary Women’s Cup
Celebrate the Sunshine Coast 50th Anniversary Women’s Cup on Saturday, August 5. As the leader in women's AFL north of Brisbane, the Maroochydore Roos AFC will host an annual cup to engage the community. This game will be a fixture in the women's season, and will become known as an intense rivalry each year between the Maroochydore club, and another from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. Lock it into your diary. It’s sure to be a fun family day out.
