Happy New Year
I would like to wish everyone on the Sunshine Coast a happy New Year. I hope you all had a chance to unwind and spend some quality time with family and friends over the holiday period. My first ‘Meet and Greet for 2018 will be held at Kawana Library on Monday, 29 January 2018 from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, please come along to discuss any local government issues. I will continue these ‘Meet and Greets’ in 2018 and will also include Kawana, Mooloolaba and Alexandra Headland Surf Clubs.
Get your popcorn ready
I’ve heard from the developer that work is on track at Kawana Shoppingworld for the new cinema which will be ready for Christmas 2018, weather dependant. The Kawana Shoppingworld has progressed substantially in recent years and there’s no doubt this expansion is going to be very much welcomed by everyone in the area. I look forward to enjoying a trip to the movies when the cinema doors are open.
Brisbane Road car park update
Council is continuing to keep traders in Mooloolaba informed on the anticipated development of the Brisbane Road car park. Council has been proactively negotiating with the preferred tenderer Abacus Group, refining the proposed plans for the site. Council is committed to providing alternative public parking during the construction of the Brisbane Road car park through a variety of works and initiatives. The alternative temporary parking options to be provided for staff, visitors, residents and construction workers, is expected to exceed the number of bays currently provided at the Brisbane Road car park site.
