Safer streets in Mooloolaba for residents and visitors
I’m pleased my request to have speed limits reviewed along a number of streets in Mooloolaba has had a positive result for the community. Speed limits on 11 streets will be lowered from 50km/h to 40km/h, while the speed limit on the main traffic route through Mooloolaba, including parts of Brisbane Rd, Walan St, Venning St and Mooloolaba Esplanade will be cut from 60km/h to 50km/h. The change will provide higher safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. These speed reductions support the Mooloolaba Master Plan to make the area more pedestrian friendly and safe. I’ve also asked for a review of the road network to determine if any improvements to traffic flow around Mooloolaba can be achieved in the future.
Viewing deck underway at Alexandra Headland
The new viewing deck is well underway at Alexandra Headland. The suspended deck will go above the existing stormwater pipes in front of Alex Surf Club and will provide another popular viewing point. This is a project I am very passionate about and one I am proud to deliver for Division 4. Weather permitting, the deck will be complete in August, ready for all to enjoy.
Kawana Island refresh
Council is currently working to clean, repaint and repair all entry signs at Kawana Island. This project is long overdue, the fresh look will improve street appeal and better reflect the pride of Kawana Island’s residents.
