Festive season hospitality

As the days get hotter, it is great to see increasing numbers of visitors from around the world and across Australia come and share the beauty of our region.  Our reputation for being warm and welcoming is what keeps these visitors coming back, filling our accommodation beds, restaurants, shops and attractions and giving our local economy a boost.  I encourage everyone to continue to be generous in welcoming our guests over the festive season and beyond.

Mooloolaba Spit boardwalk upgrade

In line with the council’s commitment to provide world class facilities, our popular boardwalk along The Spit is in line for some attention.  While maintaining the area’s natural character, the upgrade will provide safer access along this stretch through lighting improvements, widening of the boardwalk and better access for all abilities.  Additional seating and viewing platforms will also be installed in key areas. This project will get underway in 2017.

Coastal Pathway Master Plan

What do you think about a 73km continuous shared pathway stretching along the coastline from Bells Creek to Coolum? With beautiful coastal views, the pathway is a fantastic recreational option—great for a weekend walk, regular ride or jog. We want to hear your thoughts, so send in your comments about the draft Coastal Pathway Master Plan and you’ll be entered into the prize draw for vouchers to restaurants, surf clubs, sporting goods and bike stores.

I hope you enjoy a happy and safe Christmas and New Year festive season.
