Lake Kawana upgrades

You may have noticed that council replaced four shelters along Lake Kawana before Christmas last year. They received positive responses from residents and I’m pleased to advise there are some further upgrades getting underway soon. The larger structure, south of the Lake Kawana Community Centre, will be replaced and a new pontoon walkway will be installed, both by the end of April. The new pontoon will be used as a launch point for rowing training sessions and major events and will be a great addition to our regional sports precinct. It’s manufactured in France and will be installed by a company who installs Olympic style platforms around the world.

Start Cycling, Stay Cycling

The next round of council’s free cycling workshops are underway and I would encourage you to sign up if you or your family would like to start riding. We have a fantastic cycle path network and some stunning outdoor areas, so it’s well worth taking advantage of these to get some exercise or save a trip in the car. Head to council’s website at and search “cycling workshops” for details and to register.

Crummunda Park

Council has commenced work on the replacement of the playground and exercise equipment at Wurtulla’s Crummunda Park, following community consultation and an endorsed landscape master plan from 2016. The new exercise equipment will be relocated closer to the basketball half court and the new playground will feature a multi-level climber, slides and toddler play elements. They’ll be a wonderful addition to this relaxed lakeside park.
