I will be welcoming new citizens at two ceremonies this Australia Day. Council will hold its annual Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at Lake Kawana Community Centre and the Kawana Rotary Club will present Citizenship Awards at Kawana Community Hall. I look forward to meeting new members of our community on this special day.
Drop in to say hello
Happy New Year! I hope you had a relaxing break over the Christmas and New Year period. I’ll be holding my first ‘councillor catch-up’ sessions for the year on January 29 at Currimundi Market Place between 9-11am and at Parklands Market Place (outside Aldi) between 12-2pm. Please drop by if you would like to chat about what’s on the agenda for Division 3 this year, let me know what’s important to you, or just to say hello. I hope to see you there!
Work has now commenced on the next stage of the Wurtulla coastal pathway, between Beach Access 249 at Poatina Street and Beach Access 247 at Wurley Drive. I've previously advised that vegetation clearing was completed in December, followed by unexploded ordnance clearance and geo-surveying. Ground preparation will begin in the next fortnight, subject to favourable weather conditions. The coastal pathway is a much loved community project as it provides a great route along our beautiful coastline to run, walk or cycle. I know many locals are anxiously awaiting its completion!
