Draft Parking Management Plan consultation

Council faces an interesting challenge when managing our on and off-street car parking, both now and into the future. With that in mind, I encourage you to take a look at the draft Parking Management Plan which is out for community consultation until April 21. You can view a full copy of the draft plan and local area plans on the project website, ‘Have Your Say Sunshine Coast’, or visit council’s website for more information. It’s also on display at various locations including the Kawana library.

Beach access improvements

A project to strengthen the dunes at beach access 235 in Warana is now complete. Two community planting sessions have been held by the ‘Beach, Bush & Birds’ Conservation Group, with the latest one seeing 160 ground cover plants added to the dunes. This project also included new dune protection fencing, seating and bike racks which makes it easier for our locals to enjoy.

Barking dog seminar

Council’s recent ‘Park the Bark’ barking dog seminar run was so successful, another one is being planned for June. The seminars are hosted by renowned animal behaviourist Dr Cam Day. You can register your interest for the next seminar by emailing animals@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or calling 5475 7272. Council will confirm the date, time and location closer to June.
