Delivering the future for Division 3

A healthy outdoor lifestyle, sports and recreation is the focus for Division 3 in Sunshine Coast Council’s 2017/18 budget. Highlights include $1.75 million for the first stage of new AFL fields and facilities at Meridan Sports Fields, $800,000 to upgrade the Kawana Aquatic Centre and $480,000 for improvements to Sunshine Coast Stadium.

There will also be additions to the coastal pathway and around $500,000 of road safety improvements.

Sunshine Coast 50th Anniversary Concert

Mark your calendars for Sunday August 6 to enjoy a musical spectacular. ‘The Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast’ will comprise local artists and community groups. It will be held at the Sunshine Coast Stadium in Kawana and is free to the public. Gates will open at 1pm. This is just one of many events planned to celebrate the anniversary. Visit council’s website for further dates and details.

Bokarina Beach

As part of the development at Bokarina Beach, Stockland is funding an upgrade of Nicklin Way between Wurley Dr and Beach Dr. This will include a pedestrian underpass, additional south-bound lanes and a new signalised junction at the intersection of Nicklin Way and Lake Kawana Blvd.  You can keep up to date with progress on these projects by visiting Stockland’s website at www.stockland.com.au/residential/qld/bokarina-beach.

Meet your councillor

A friendly reminder that my next ‘mobile office’ session is on Friday July 28 from 9am-11am at Currimundi Marketplace. Hope to see you there!
