It really is an exciting time for our region, with the airport expansion project and the proposed light rail network both reaching significant milestones in recent months.
Comment on the light rail route options
Our population is forecast to grow by 93 per cent in the next 27 years, and we need to be planning for that growth now to ensure we maintain the lifestyle we all love. Council is currently identifying how a light rail network could solve future connectivity and road congestion issues, and is asking for your opinion on possible route options. Three route options are proposed for Caloundra, plus options in Kawana, Maroochydore and Mooloolaba. Visit council’s website for all the details and to submit your feedback.
Have your say on the airport EIS
You still have a week to comment on the Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion Environmental Impact Study (EIS). Submissions close at 5pm next Thursday, November 13. The expansion project is important to help achieve the region’s economic and job-creation aspirations, and the EIS is an exciting step forward. The EIS is available for download and comment on the Queensland Government’s Office of the Coordinator-General’s website.
Upgrades for Grahame Stewart Park
The new all abilities playground is certainly getting a work out. Council will be seeking your feedback on the new landscape plan for the entire park early next year – stay tuned for updates!
