Small dog enclosure at Ridgehaven Park

As many dog owners would know, Ridgehaven Park in Aroona is an increasingly popular spot for our canine friends. Following feedback from regular users, council is considering a new fully fenced dog-off-leash enclosure for small dogs to complement the existing off-leash area. We have identified an area in the park for this and you are invited to share your ideas about the proposed project with council. A project newsletter is being sent to nearby residents this week and if the majority of feedback is supportive, the new enclosure will be programmed and rolled out. Submissions will close in late October.

Successful closure of Lake Currimundi

Currimundi Lake was reopened earlier this week after the temporary closure reduced midge numbers by an encouraging 85%. The entrance to the lake was closed off in late August to drown midge larvae in an attempt to reduce the amount of hatching adult midges. We anticipate that the reduction in midges will make the popular recreation area even better as we head into summer. Such a successful reduction means it is unlikely council will have to close the lake again next year.

Music festival hits a high note

How fantastic was the Caloundra Music Festival! This signature Sunshine Coast event has gone from strength to strength since it started nine years ago and this year was no different. It provided wonderful entertainment for locals of all ages plus attracted a great number of visitors from outside our region including overseas, which gave a fantastic boost to our local economy.
