Transport service $2 each way
Are you 60-and-over, have a disability or mobility impairment? If so, you may now be able to access Sunshine Coast Council’s Council Link transport service through ComLink. The service, funded through the Transport Levy, collects eligible residents from their home and drives them to their local shopping centre and return for $2 each way. To arrange the service, phone 5390 1288 by noon the day before your planned trip. For the schedule and suburbs, visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au and search for “council link”.
Shaping our future
The Sunshine Coast’s population is projected to rise from 280,000 people today to approximately half a million by 2036. Council is planning for the future with a number of major region-building projects, many of which have reached important stages in recent months. There is some misinformation in the community about some of these projects, so you will soon receive a ‘Shaping our Future’ brochure in your letter box to explain their significance and current status.
These projects are the Maroochydore City Centre, the proposed solar farm, airport expansion, light rail, Kawana Health Campus, and highway and rail upgrades. Council will continue to provide regular updates on each of these projects so you remain informed about their progress.
Come join me at my next ‘councillor catch-up’ at Currimundi Market Place on Friday November 28 between 9-11am. Thanks to everyone who comes to these sessions – it’s a great opportunity to hear first-hand what is important to you.
