Division 6 will be home to yet another professional standard sporting facility on the Sunshine Coast. The major expansion of the Maroochydore Basketball Stadium is currently underway at Elizabeth Daniels Park. Council is committed to providing quality facilities and ample opportunities for our athletes and the latest stadium expansion is a prime example.
Slow down at Sippy Downs
I am excited to announce, the safety for students and residents of Sippy Downs has been significantly improved. The recent installation of flashing 40 km speed signs along Sippy Downs Drive, will increase road safety for students travelling to and from school and university. The signage is a welcome addition to the ‘Knowledge Precinct’ as residents, local police and local school’s brought this matter to my attention. Improving road safety is something we need to tackle together and I was delighted to have been able to contribute to the installation of the new signs.
Help drive regional transport planning
The nominations for the Sunshine Coast Council Transport Community Group are now open. Council is seeking community members to discuss the region’s transport challenges. This group plays a vital role in helping establish key directions for transport in our community. I would like to strongly encourage residents, who are interested in helping guide council policies and strategic direction on integrated transport systems to apply. Nomination forms and information packs can be downloaded from council’s website at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au
