As the weather warms and we start to experience some spectacular summer storms it is a reminder to all to be prepared. Like all regions across Australia, there is the risk of a disaster or emergency happening on the Sunshine Coast. For information on how you can prepare yourselves, your homes and businesses visit council’s online Disaster Hub at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
Council is also preparing stormwater infrastructure ahead of our summer wet season. Upgrades to existing stormwater pits, as well as installation of new stormwater pits at the intersection of Otranto Avenue and Leeding Terrance and the intersection of Otranto Avenue and Richie Lane, have recently been completed to improve drainage during periods of heavy rain. This work is a pre-cursor to further stormwater drainage upgrades to take place as part of the Bulcock Street Streetscape project early next year.
Third Avenue pathway
The concrete pathway at the intersection of Mayes and Third Avenues along the western side of Third Avenue has recently been extended. Footpaths are important on the ground networking facilities and this new footpath will create greater connectivity for local residents.
Moffat Beach pathway
Work to extend the concrete pathway along Bryce and Campbell Streets to the intersection of Campbell and Roderick Streets is now complete. This pathway now provides better connectivity in this popular location and improves the safety and accessibility for residents and visitors.
Caloundra Aquatic Centre
Shade structure works commencing 23/11. Daryl Morgan can provide and update tomorrow (on RDO today)…
