Great news for local residents with information hot off the press that around $5.4 million has been allocated from the 2016/17 Budget to help build a more vibrant, safer and better-connected Division 7 community.
Amongst the many exciting projects, a few key highlights include:
- $520,000 to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Mons Rd and Owen Creek Rd, Forest Glen;
- $2.36M to construct a freestanding footbridge over Eudlo Creek, Maroochydore to enable a much safer and smoother crossing for the many pedestrians and cyclists who use this road;
- $500,000 invested in the continued implementation of the Buderim Village Park masterplan which will see the park continue to flourish, creating a special outdoor place we can all be proud of.
Then there’s the significant funding from council’s road and reseal program to be invested in maintaining and improving our local roads. Since being elected as a councillor 12 years ago, I’ve managed to seal over half the gravels roads in the division I represent and I remain committed to continuing this focus this year as budget allows.
Last but by no means least, is the $440,000 that has been put aside for capital and minor works throughout the division as they arise. This includes everything from paving new pathways, upgrading roadside kerb and channel to installing street lights, environmental works and much more.
