Cr Hungerford - Common recycling mistakes
  • Thursday 12 November 2015

What are the most common recycling mistakes people make?
Find out the answer to this question and learn many other waste reduction and recycling tips and tricks by getting involved in National Recycling Week this week November 9-15.

As you are probably aware, I am a huge supporter and endorser of sustainability related initiatives, and urge you all to get on board the recycling craze – it’s easy to do and takes very little effort on your part.

For those Sunshine Coast residents who already make the effort to recycle - well done - you are doing a fabulous job with contamination rates as low as 3-5%!

These figures however don’t reveal how many residents are not bothering at all and are throwing many items that could be recycled into their general waste bin which end up going to landfill.

As part of the week, why not also take advantage of a unique opportunity to tour the Waste2Resource Education Centre on Saturday, November 14 and find out what happens to your recycling when it gets picked up. Bookings essential.

Council is reviewing its local laws and the community is invited to get involved.
Our local laws reflect community needs to ensure safety, harmony and good rule.   They govern such things as parking, keeping animals, approvals for activities, bathing reserves and dog off-leash areas
Community members wishing to comment on the proposed amendments to the local laws have until 5pm, November 30 to provide feedback. Visit council’s website for further details.
