Cr Hungerford - Local works in action
  • Tuesday 27 March 2018

It is with much pleasure I can advise that works are now complete on both the new carpark at Maroochydore Junior Rugby League and the new netball courts at Maroochy Multisports.

The $650,000 newly constructed carpark at the Wises Rd sports fields includes 76 bays within the old gravel section, 32 bays in the lower terrace (old grass bank), 41 bays + 2 motorcycle bays linemarked in the informal existing concrete carpark as well as footpath access via Wises Road and to the rear of the main field.

Meanwhile over at the multisports centre on Fishermans Rd, an impressive 10,000sqm (2.5 acres) of concrete was used to construct the 10 high quality netball courts. This formed stages 3 and 4 of the exciting $2.4 million state and local government funded two-year project which, when complete, will deliver 20 compliant hard courts for the centre and the Sunshine Coast region.

The magic of storytelling

Families and children have even more reason to visit Maroochy Lions Park with the launch of our Libraries’ First 5 Forever story seat featuring artwork from the popular children’s picture book Home in the Rain.

The colourful, purpose-built story seats in parks across the region are a great part of our First 5 Forever early childhood literacy program, encouraging children to explore the magic of storytelling and reinforce the message, ‘the first five years last a lifetime’.

Councillor catch up

Interested in hearing further information about local projects and developments or have some views to share? Maybe just want an opportunity to come and meet the local person who represents your Division 7?

Then pop over to see me at the Old Buderim Post Office, Burnett Street on the fourth Friday of every month from 10am – midday.  The next catch up is Friday 23 March. Hope to see you there!
