Apply now for a Landholder Environment Grant

If a little funding boost from council towards your project to start the New Year off sounds good to you – be sure to check out council’s Landholder Environment Grants. Submit an Expression of Interest online between January 11 and February 22 to have a council conservation officer visit your property to discuss the project in more detail. New ‘Butterfly Walk’ at iconic reserve
Feeling a bit frazzled from too much Christmas hustle and bustle, why not head to the stunning, tranquil Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve to relax and reconnect with nature?
The beloved reserve is now easier to access following a recently completed upgrade to the main walking trail. This new Butterfly Walk trail snakes through the top of the reserve, from the boardwalk to the toilet block, to provide better access and allow more people to enjoy its natural beauty.
It’s a wrap for 2015
I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by with Christmas Day tomorrow! I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a happy and healthy Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2016.
By the time you read this, I will have enjoyed around nine community Christmas celebrations. I always love this time of year, seeing residents of all ages, backgrounds and interests coming together as a community to celebrate the festive season.
I think we often forget how blessed we really are here on the Coast, and it’s important to help support those less fortunate. As such, I would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who participated in the Palmwoods appeal in support of the Quilpie community, known as ‘the farmers of the west’, suffering terribly hard times from the drought.
Next year is going to continue to be as busy and productive as ever – business as usual. I will continue to keep you up to date with what’s happening in your area and be available to discuss any projects or matters of interest with you.
