I’m very much looking forward to joining the community on November 26 to celebrate 110 Years Dulong-Kureelpa School of Arts.
The grand opening on November 30, 1906 took the form of a concert and dance celebrated by around 200 people from Montville, Mapleton, Nambour and Yandina.
The anniversary event will be an opportunity for neighbours from near and far to collaborate, connect and celebrate the message of Social Inclusion Week (November 19-27, 2016).
Eudlo skate park
Quick note, council has been made aware of a crack in the water tank over the skate park in Eudlo and will repair the infrastructure asap.
Keeping our neighbourhoods safe
After a series of incidents, near misses and complaints from local residents concerning speeding and reckless driving along Wakefield St, Woombye, Hunchy Rd, Palmwoods and Upper Landershute Rd, Palmwoods, council and the Queensland Police want to make it very clear this behaviour won’t be tolerated.
Police have assigned additional resources to these areas and offenders will be held accountable.
I’m also seeking a 10kph speed reduction, a flashing speed solar warning light and another guide post on Hunchy Rd.
Free health and wellbeing activities
From outdoor boxing to circuit fitness, core strength and yoga, there’s an exciting range of free programs on offer across the Coast as part of council’s new health and wellbeing initiative called Healthy Sunshine Coast.
Developed to cater for all ages and levels including teens, mums with bubs and seniors, the purpose of the initiative is to develop partnerships and programs which assist in making the community more physically active, leading to healthier lifestyles.
One of the new activities I’m particularly interested in is the free yoga sessions on Saturdays from 7 - 8am amongst the tranquil bushland setting of Maroochy Botanic Garden.
Check out the full program of activities on council’s website .
