Future of key Maleny sport and rec

Thank-you to everyone for your valuable feedback during the recent community consultation period for the Maleny Recreation Draft Master Plan 2015-2030.

This relates to the future of three key sport and recreation sites within the Maleny locality including the Maleny Showgrounds, Witta Sportsground and the sport and recreation uses across the Maleny Community Precinct.

Council will now review and consider all input as we work to finalise the master plan by early next year.

Become a furry foster parent and help save lives

I joined SCARS manager Penny Brischke earlier this week as they launched SCARS cat and dog foster program to the public and put out a desperate call for the community to help them keep saving cats and dogs.

This program has always been run internally, utilising SCARS volunteers as carers, however, the demand and need this wonderful refuge is facing is too great for this to continue as is.

By becoming a foster carer people will be directly helping save lives.

Night time feral animal surveying

I just wanted to keep local residents in the areas of Kenilworth, Conondale and Cambroon informed that council is performing routine night time feral animal surveying in these areas between December 7 and 9.

Surveying is used to determine the distribution, population, size, habitat use and impacts of feral animals.

The survey is conducted from council roads and reserves and does not require officers to enter private property. For further information contact council at or phone 5475 7272.
