Three terrific council grants programs are now open for applications.
As well as the Regional Arts Development Fund grant, which I’ve talked about previously, also open for not-for-profit community organisations are Community Grants up to $30,000 towards projects to benefit the Coast community.
Applications are also open for Environment Levy Grants with up to $5,000 funding to help projects that make a positive and ongoing contribution to the region’s biodiversity and waterways.
Visit council’s website for further details.
Supporting sporting clubs at grass roots
Still on grants, congratulations to all of the 41 sporting organisations across the Sunshine Coast who have been successful to receive funding up to three years in the Sports Field Maintenance Program 2014. I’m especially pleased to see a number of local clubs will receive the benefits from being part of the program, including Woombye Soccer Club Inc., Palmwoods Cricket Club, Palmwoods Western and Districts Junior Rugby League Football Club and Palmwoods Warriors Football Club Inc.
As well as the contribution to maintenance costs, a dedicated Council Parks Community Sports Field Officer will provide expert advice and support to these sporting organisations to assist in maintaining turf surfaces to competition level.
Your pet, your responsibility
Council has approved the draft Domestic Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Strategy 2014-2020 and you are invited to have your say.
The strategy will act as a tool for promoting and enhancing responsible pet ownership, while informing the community about Council’s role and future priorities in animal management.
Residents can provide input until 5pm 22 August via Council’s website, libraries or customer service centres or email feedback directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
