Cr McKay - Happy New Year
  • Friday 09 January 2015

I don’t know about you but I for one cannot believe we are in 2015. I hope you all enjoy a bright and prosperous year ahead.

Much to see and do

These January school holidays council is providing a huge range of exciting and affordable holiday activities loaded with fun for the whole family at various venues region-wide.

Here in Nambour, for those who enjoy watching movies on the big screen, Arthouse Cinema Nambour will kick off the holiday period this week with the screening of the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Kids can follow the adventures of the humanoid warrior turtles for only $9 and receive a free popcorn. There are ample opportunities to see this and other kid’s movies with a range of dates throughout January.

Early bookings are encouraged to avoid disappointment - visit council’s performance venues website .

Community invited to have their say on waste

Construction of a new resource recovery centre, expansion of services and delivery of innovative, financially viable infrastructure are just a few of the major actions outlined in council’s draft Sunshine Coast Waste Strategy 2015 – 2025.

The community is invited to review and provide feedback on the draft strategy from 12 January – 14 February 2015 either online at or in person at council libraries or customer contact centres.

The draft waste strategy, including any amendments coming from the consultation process, will be presented to council for adoption in April 2015.
