Cr McKay - Must-do June local events
  • Wednesday 08 June 2016

I’m very much looking forward to the fabulous three-day Knitfest Yarn and Fibre Arts Festival coming to Maleny from June 10. The main street of Maleny will be wrapped thoroughly in yarn bombs and decorations as it comes alive with workshops, guest speakers, music and craft markets.

Another must-do event for locals this month is the Mooloolah Rodeo, in town at Mooloolah Recreation Grounds on June 17. As well as the main event – Honky Tonk Bull Riding from 6:30pm – there will be live music by X-Factor contestant Judah Kelly along with local talent The Chontia Trio. Come along and support the Mooloolah State School with much needed fundraising.

My apologies for any confusion I caused in last month’s column for providing the incorrect date.

Works programmed for Brandenburg Rd

A heads up, following concerns raised about sections of Brandenburg Rd, Mooloolah, council inspected the road and will be undertaking routine maintenance grading within the next two weeks, weather permitting. In the interim, corrective works have commenced to rectify the worst sections of the road.

Mooloolah Breakfast Meeting update

Thank you to all of our local Mooloolah residents for attending this month’s Mooloolah Breakfast Meeting at Kenny’s and sharing your ideas, concerns and interest in your community.

Key topics discussed include:

  • the not-to-be-missed Mooloolah Rodeo;
  • proposed skate bowl for Mooloolah. I know the community have been waiting for the decision by the Minister, and I have also been seeking a meeting with him to share the passion, commitment and need for the small facility for the youth of Mooloolah;
  • following up on the request from businesses for CTV cameras to deter any potential of crime in Mooloolah.

Please note the next meeting will be on August 4 at Kenny’s Café 7 at 7 for a 7.30am start.
