If you’re a professional artist or arts worker, consider applying for a grant through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). The latest major round of RADF is now open and offers up to $10,000 in funding for concept, skills and career development.
Local artist off to the US
Congratulations to Jackie Gasson from Suncoast Clayworkers, Maleny, a local artist who has been making and teaching pottery on the Coast for 30 years and organising many wonderful events including The Spring Fever Conference, Ignition Awards of Ceramic Excellence and Nambour Garden Expo.
Jackie has been awarded a Horn Scholarship to Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, USA. Here, not only will she learn new skills to pass onto members and students, but she will also begin the process of establishing a link with Penland and the Sunshine Coast to enable members to receive a grant to attend Penland Workshops and be in a position to meet like-minded artists with the possibility of bringing some over to act as tutors at The Spring Fever Conference. I was pleased to be able to provide some support towards this important endeavour.
Russell Family Park facelift
Residents will be happy to know the construction site fencing has been removed and popular Russell Family Park, Montville is fully open and ready to be enjoyed.
Stage 7 works included connecting pathways, new trees, turf and landscape plantings, drainage works and stormwater management, pedestrian nodes and seating areas and concrete stairs with handrails.
These works build on from the previous stages within the park to improve site functionality and lay the ground work for future proposed works.
