How fantastic was the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show this year?
My family and I, along with hundreds of other volunteers gave of their time to make this one of the best shows for a decade. The gates recorded a record crowd flooding through to enjoy and celebrate the 1111h year of this terrific event. There were so many fabulous highlights including the show jumping and horse breed classes, mini racing pigs and the circus tent on Motor Mountain, not to mention the absolutely stunning fireworks and laser spectacular. The children education learning centre was voted number 1! The event also attracted Senators, Prime Minister Turnbull and 25 visiting Ugandan singers.
Woombye playground upgrade
McCarthy Park is an important asset for Woombye and valued greatly by myself and residents. I am pleased to advise playground improvements will be undertaken this month and hope the upgrade brings much joy to our little ones.
Art prize with a difference
The 2016 Sunshine Coast Environment Photography Awards – offering three prizes with a total value of $8500 – are an exciting opportunity for local photographers to use their skills and passion to share the story of the Coast’s natural and built landscapes.
This year, there are three categories aimed at connecting everyone from children to adults to the values of the region’s natural environment through art.
Entries are now open and close 3 August. To enter and for further details visit council’s website.
