Here’s some great news for AFL fans and particularly all you Richmond supporters – the premiership winning Tigers will be back on the Sunshine Coast to kick start their title defence in 2018!
While dates and details are yet to be nailed down, Tigers general manager of football Neil Balme has confirmed they’ll be back for another pre-season camp in the New Year!
It’s another great show of faith in the world-class training facilities, weather and hospitality we have here on the Sunshine Coast. It’s also another big kick for our Sport, Tourism and Leisure industry that delivers more than $440 million in economic activity here each year!
Save these dates!
There’s some fantastic council-supported events coming to Coolum over the next few weeks, including the Queensland Bowlriding Championship (skateboard.com.au) at the Coolum Skate Park on October 28. Even if you aren’t a diehard skateboarding fan, I really urge you to check this one out – you’ll be blown away!
The Wanderlust Festival returns on November 9-12 at Twin Waters Resort and there’s plenty of great events and experiences to be had at this truly unique event. Check out wanderlust.com for details.
Round two of the Ocean 6 surf sport series will also make a huge splash at Coolum Beach on November 18-19! It’ll feature the best Nutri-Grain Ironman and Ironwoman competitors so but sure to head down for a look!
Nominate a hero!
In 2018 we’ll celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards. If you know a person, community group or organisation making a difference to life on the Coast, give them the recognition they deserve by nominating them for an award!
You don’t have to be famous to be nominated for our Australia Day Awards, we’re looking for the unsung heroes. Nominations close December 4, 2017 and you can nominate online via council’s website.
Lovin’ the Sunshine Coast!
