Art around town
Thanks to the UNFRAMED initiative, Coolum was home to an exhibition of curated public art during the school holidays and I was lucky enough to see it in place. Five artists, most of whom are local, were chosen to create artworks which responded to spaces around town. The exhibition showcased artistic expression in public and private spaces accessible to the public. It was a great way to start conversations about art and about the wonderful spaces it was placed in. I loved the concept and would support such an initiative in the future.
Welcoming The Today Show
It was great to be part of the welcoming party when the cast and crew of The Today Show touched down on the Sunshine Coast. Promoting the business and tourism opportunities in the region through such a popular breakfast show was a great initiative and I have to say meeting the team was a delight. It’s easy to see why the show is such a hit with Karl’s great Aussie humour, Lisa’s warm and engaging personality and Richard’s friendly and easy going nature. I’m sure their broadcast from Moffat Beach was an outstanding promotion of our region and everything it has to offer.
CEO calls into Coolum
I recently took the opportunity to take council’s new CEO Michael Whittaker around the Coolum and districts area. While Michael has visited the Sunshine Coast many times previously, this was an opportunity to show him the fantastic projects underway and recently completed in this beautiful part of the world. I can assure you he was extremely impressed with the town and the friendliness of its people.
